Drambuie Liqueur Company

The liqueur’s recipe dates back to 1745, when it was reportedly passed from Bonnie Prince Charlie to the MacKinnon clan.

The Drambuie Liqueur Company Ltd. was founded in 1914 by Malcolm MacKinnon and Eleanor Ross and is known for its whisky liqueur, Drambuie. The name “Drambuie” comes from the Scottish Gaelic expression “an dram buidheach”, which means “the drink that satisfies.” The liqueur’s recipe dates back to 1745, when it was reportedly passed from Bonnie Prince Charlie to the MacKinnon clan.
The Drambuie Liqueur Company Ltd. is based in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Since its founding, the company has continuously produced and refined the liqueur. In 2014, the brand was acquired by William Grant & Sons Ltd., a renowned Scottish whisky producer. Despite this acquisition, the recipe for Drambuie remains a closely guarded secret, known only to a few individuals.
