The Sylvaner from the Kuenhof estate is regarded as one of the most important white wines of the Eisack Valley and demonstrates impressively how powerful and precise this variety can be in South Tyrol. The vines grow on steep terraced slopes south of Bressanone, at altitudes between 550 and 750 meters, where skeletal soils rich in quartz phyllite, schist and a touch of clay, combined with strong temperature variations between day and night, provide ideal conditions.
Vineyard work is carried out with great care and predominantly by hand. Fermentation with traditional yeasts and maturation in stainless steel tanks and large acacia barrels highlight the authentic character of the Sylvaner.
In the glass, the Sylvaner DOC 2023 shines with a bright straw yellow. On the nose it reveals aromas of exotic fruits, white blossoms, lemon peel, kaffir lime and fresh alpine herbs. On the palate it is concentrated, well-structured and finely nuanced, with a silky texture, crisp pear freshness and a characteristic hint of spring meadow.
