Glera
Glera is a white grape variety of Italian origin, used primarily for the production of prosecco. Originally known as Prosecco, it was renamed Glera in 2009 to protect the geographically protected name “Prosecco.” Glera is a neutral grape that is good for sparkling wines, particularly for the frizzante and spumante styles. The main growing areas are in the Veneto region, particularly in the hills around Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. The grape can be traced back to Roman times and is also used for still wine.
