Radikon Pignoli 2011 is an extraordinary red wine from Friuli that puts the spotlight on the rare, indigenous Pignolo grape. Known for its deep color, firm tannins, and complex aromas of ripe fruit and spice, this wine pours a deep burgundy red in the glass. On the nose, it reveals intense notes of ripe forest berries, along with floral and herbal hints. The palate is powerful yet refined, featuring silky tannins and vibrant acidity that give it both freshness and structure.
Its vinification process is especially remarkable: following hand-harvesting, fermentation occurs spontaneously with skin maceration lasting three to four months in conical oak vats. The wine is then aged for six years in used barriques and a further eight years in bottle before release.
