The Château Kirwan – Margaux 3.GCC – 2022 from Château Kirwan is one of the great classified wines of the Margaux appellation and beautifully reflects the elegant style of this prestigious Bordeaux region. As a Troisième Grand Cru Classé (3.GCC), the estate was already included in the historic 1855 classification, a distinction that still stands for origin, consistency, and exceptional aging potential. The vineyards are located on Margaux’s characteristic deep gravel and sandy-clay soils, which are particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing the grape to develop structure, finesse, and remarkable aromatic precision.
The 2022 vintage is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. In Margaux, Cabernet Sauvignon brings elegance, fine structure, and refined floral notes, while Merlot adds richness and smoothness. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contribute spice, depth, and complexity.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color with violet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of cassis, blackberry, and dark cherry, accompanied by floral nuances, fine spice, cedarwood, and delicate vanilla notes. On the palate, it is dense yet silky, with precise fruit, fine tannins, and remarkable elegance. The finish is long, harmonious, and mineral.
