The Léoville Poyferré Saint-Julien 2.GCC 2022 from Château Léoville Poyferré is one of the great wines of Bordeaux’s Left Bank and beautifully expresses the refined elegance of Saint-Julien. The estate was already classified in 1855 as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé (2.GCC), a distinction that still marks some of the Médoc’s most prestigious properties today. This classification stands for exceptional origin, consistent quality, and outstanding aging potential.

The 2022 vintage is composed of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. In Saint-Julien, Cabernet Sauvignon thrives on the deep gravel soils of the Médoc, producing wines with remarkable structure, precision, and longevity. Merlot adds richness and silkiness, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contribute spice, depth, and aromatic complexity.

In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby-red color. The nose reveals layered aromas of cassis, blackberry, and dark cherry, accompanied by violet, fine spice, and subtle graphite notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet silky, with dense fruit, precise structure, and finely integrated tannins. The finish is exceptionally long, elegant, and marked by impressive mineral depth.
