The Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Großes Gewächs 2023 from Weingut Bassermann-Jordan shines in a clear, bright pale yellow. On the nose, it reveals pronounced herbal and spicy aromas, subtly underpinned by hints of peach and citrus freshness. On the palate, the wine impresses with remarkable minerality and depth. Fruit notes are deliberately restrained to let the mineral and spicy components take center stage. A delicate creaminess lends texture and body, culminating in a long, harmonious finish.

This Riesling comes from the renowned Forster Ungeheuer vineyard in the Palatinate (Pfalz), known for its mineral-rich soils. The grapes were hand-selected and vinified 50% in stainless steel and 50% in traditional German oak (Stückfass). After fermentation, the wine remained on the full lees until bottling in July, adding further complexity and structure.
