The Breisgau Cuvée Weiß 2022 from Bernhard Huber in Malterdingen, Breisgau (Baden), is a dry, clearly structured white wine that brings together the region’s classic Burgundian grape varieties in balanced harmony. This carefully composed cuvée is made from Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, two varieties known for their ability to combine freshness with ripe fruit and a complex texture – a balance this wine delivers with impressive precision. Born from loess and shell-limestone soils, the Breisgau Cuvée conveys a precise mineral character and a strong sense of origin, both hallmarks of the Huber style.
In the glass, the Breisgau 2022 shows a bright, lightly golden colour. The nose opens with a fine yet complex aromatic profile: notes of green apple, citrus and yellow fruit are complemented by mineral nuances, a subtle reductive touch and a delicate barrique-driven spice that adds extra depth. This aromatic complexity is enhanced by a clear, cool freshness that reflects the character of the vintage.
On the palate, the Breisgau Cuvée Weiß 2022 is dry, with precise acidity, lively freshness and a distinct mineral tension. The structure is taut yet juicy, with persistent fruit and an elegant balance carried by vibrant acidity. Predominantly aged in barrique, partly with a proportion of new oak, the wine gains noticeable but never overpowering complexity, linking fruit and terroir into a harmonious overall expression.
