Alberico White 2020 from Tenuta Principe Alberico is an exceptional white wine from Lazio IGT, made entirely from Sémillon. The vines grow on the historic volcanic soils along the Via Appia Antica near Rome, where tufaceous and ash-rich soils give the wine remarkable depth, precision and character. The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully selected and gently vinified. Fermentation takes place in large used oak casks, followed by around six months of ageing in 318-liter puncheons and extended bottle ageing before release.
Sémillon is rarely found in Italy, making this wine particularly distinctive. On Lazio’s volcanic soils, the variety develops an elegant balance of creamy texture, refined spice and pronounced mineral freshness. In this region, it shows a fascinating harmony between richness and precision, reminiscent of fine Bordeaux whites.
In the glass, it displays an intense golden yellow color. The bouquet reveals citrus notes, aromatic herbs, delicate floral hints and subtle nuances of butter and vanilla from the oak ageing. On the palate, the wine is complex, smooth and precise, with vibrant freshness, mineral tension and a long, savory finish.
