St. Magdalener Classico DOC Vigna Rondell 2024 by Glögglhof – Franz Gojer is an authentic expression of this historic South Tyrolean appellation, beautifully highlighting the terroir character of one of the finest single vineyards in St. Magdalena. Vigna Rondell is a terraced, south-east facing site above Bolzano, with well-aerated, sandy morainic soils where traditional Schiava vines root deeply and develop intense, focused fruit. Winemaking combines spontaneous fermentation with careful control, followed by ageing in large wooden casks, giving the wine both depth and structure. The Schiava (Vernatsch) grape, the classic variety of St. Magdalener, appears in the glass with a deep ruby-red colour, immediately reflecting its lively personality. The bouquet is expressive, showing aromas of ripe cherries, pomegranate and redcurrants, complemented by floral violet notes and a subtle almond-like and spicy nuance that adds character and complexity. On the palate, Vigna Rondell 2024 is powerful yet refined, with a vibrant balance of fresh acidity, tightly knit tannins and a compact structure, providing energy and precision. The fruit remains at the core, supported by spicy and slightly savoury tones that lead into a long, persistent finish. This St. Magdalener brings together tradition and identity—an outstanding expression of South Tyrol’s classic red wine culture with real personality and ageing potential.
