Rosso di Montalcino DOC “Sogni & Follia” 2021 by
Podere Le Ripi is a powerful, expressive red wine from the prestigious Tuscan wine area of
Montalcino. True to the style of Rosso di Montalcino, it is made from
100% Sangiovese Grosso, combining freshness, structure, and elegance in a remarkably balanced way. The vineyards lie on deep, well-aerated soils with a limestone-rich subsoil, and benefit from warm days and cool nights—conditions that support even ripening and intense aromatics. After fermentation, the wine undergoes a long ageing period of
30 months in large oak casks, followed by further maturation, building depth and harmoniously integrated tannins.
The Sangiovese grape shows a bright ruby-red colour in the glass, immediately suggesting youthful energy and freshness. On the nose, it reveals a layered bouquet with intense aromas of ripe red fruit such as cherry, raspberry, and sour cherry, complemented by floral violet notes, subtle balsamic herbal hints, and a fine mineral depth that adds extra finesse.
On the palate, “Sogni & Follia” 2021 is full-bodied and harmonious: soft yet present tannins provide support, while lively acidity brings freshness and tension. The interplay of fruit, spice, and mineral accents leads to an elegant, persistent finish, where fruit and structure come together seamlessly.
