The Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneto Rancia 2021 from Fèlsina is one of the great single-vineyard wines of Chianti Classico. The grapes come exclusively from the historic Rancia vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga, one of the most renowned areas in the southern part of the appellation. Located at 400 to 420 meters above sea level with a southwest exposure, and characterized by alberese limestone and galestro soils, the site gives the wine depth, tension, and a pronounced mineral structure.
The wine is made from 100% Sangiovese, a grape variety that expresses exceptional intensity, structure, and aging potential in this part of Chianti Classico. In Castelnuovo Berardenga, Sangiovese develops deeper spice, concentrated fruit, and a particularly precise tannic profile. The Riserva designation highlights the extended aging period, which adds further complexity, depth, and longevity.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, intense aromas of dark cherry, wild berries, violet, and fine spice unfold, accompanied by mineral nuances and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet precise, with dense fruit, finely integrated tannins, elegant spice, and a long, complex, harmonious finish.
