The Riesling Saarburger Rausch Spätlese 2020 by Markus Molitor exemplifies the finesse and depth that define the finest Saar Rieslings. The Saarburger Rausch vineyard, one of the region’s most prestigious steep sites, lies south of Saarburg and is characterized by grey Devonian slate soils rich in stone, giving the wines pronounced minerality and vibrant freshness. The 2020 vintage produced a Riesling of clarity, refined sweetness and precise acidity, crafted through meticulous hand selection and Molitor’s signature precision. In the glass, it shines a bright golden yellow. The bouquet unfolds with white peach, mirabelle and ripe lemon, complemented by floral and herbal notes. On the palate, the Saarburger Rausch Spätlese 2020 is juicy, elegant and finely structured. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by vivid acidity, while the slate minerality adds freshness and length. An elegant, deep and age-worthy Saar Riesling that captures the essence of its terroir.
