The Barolo DOCG Margheria 2021 from
Massolino is a precise and terroir-driven red wine from the renowned
Margheria cru in Serralunga d’Alba. The vineyards are located at around 280 meters above sea level on calcareous soils with sandy components, giving the wine structure, elegance and pronounced mineral tension.
The vines, with an
average age of around 40 years, produce concentrated and characterful grapes.
Vinification follows a traditional approach with long fermentation and extended maceration, followed by approximately
30 months of ageing in large oak casks and additional bottle maturation. This classic method enhances the expression of origin and provides depth and excellent ageing potential.
Nebbiolo in Serralunga d’Alba expresses a particularly powerful and structured style. Compared to other Barolo zones, wines from this area show firmer tannins and great longevity while maintaining precision and elegance.
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet color. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas of dark cherry, forest berries, spice and tobacco. On the palate, it is powerful and structured, with present but well-integrated tannins, strong mineral depth and a long, persistent finish.
