The Lagrein Rosé IGT “Soleil” 2024 from Widmann Wine is an expressive rosé from South Tyrol made from the indigenous Lagrein grape variety. The vineyards are located around Bolzano, an area known for warm days, cool nights and mineral soils that create ideal conditions for wines with strong character. Lagrein is one of South Tyrol’s most important red grape varieties and is typically known for its structure and depth. When vinified as a rosé, however, the grape shows a fresher, more elegant and approachable style.
The grapes are handled with great care to preserve the freshness and natural fruit character of the variety. The vinification includes whole-cluster pressing, followed by spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels. The wine then matures for several months on the fine lees, a process that adds structure and aromatic complexity while maintaining freshness.
In the glass, Lagrein Rosé “Soleil” 2024 shows a delicate salmon-pink colour. The bouquet reveals fruit aromas of strawberries and raspberries, accompanied by a subtle citrus note. On the palate the wine is fresh, lively and balanced, supported by harmonious acidity and elegant structure. The finish is fruity and pleasantly persistent, making this rosé versatile and enjoyable.
