The Merlot Riserva DOC “Klausner” 2022 from Armin Kobler Estate comes from South Tyrol and is produced in vineyards around Margreid on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. The grapes grow in the Klausner vineyard site, part of the Punggl area, where sandy soils with a small clay component provide suitable conditions for quality viticulture. The warm climate of the southern Alto Adige region allows the grapes to ripen fully and supports the production of structured and elegant red wines.
The wine is made from 100% Merlot. This international grape variety adapts particularly well to the conditions of southern South Tyrol, where it produces expressive and balanced wines. Some of the grapes come from older vines and are vinified with great care to preserve the varietal character. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and then matures in used barrique barrels, where it develops additional complexity and structure.
In the glass, Merlot Riserva Klausner 2022 shows a deep ruby red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe forest berries and slightly dried fruit, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and elegant, supported by fine, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and harmonious, marked by ripe fruit and refined depth.
