The Lagrein Riserva DOC Porphyr 2023 from Terlan Winery is a powerful South Tyrolean red that fully expresses the depth of this historic native grape variety. Lagrein is deeply rooted in the Bolzano area and is one of Alto Adige’s most iconic red grapes. Grown on the volcanic porphyry soils around Terlan, the variety develops remarkable concentration, mineral tension and impressive aromatic depth. This unique terroir gives the wine its elegant and distinctive character.
As a Riserva, this wine stands for a particularly selective origin and extended ageing. The carefully hand-harvested grapes come from selected vineyards and are aged for 18 months in barrique, adding structure, complexity and excellent ageing potential. The extended maturation brings greater depth, finely integrated tannins and exceptional balance on the palate.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and layered with aromas of sour cherry, blueberry, liquorice, coffee, vanilla and delicate spice notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet refined, with concentrated dark fruit, subtle spice, silky tannins and a long finish marked by elegant hints of dark chocolate.
