The Pas Dosé Millesimato Alta Langa 2019 from Contratto is a fascinating sparkling wine that impresses with its fresh, mineral and delicate nature. The color is light straw yellow with fine and persistent perlage. Its scent is characterized by soft, floral and citric notes, which give an elegant complexity. On the palate, it is fresh and spicy, with remarkable finesse and balance.

This wine consists of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, two grape varieties that are known for their excellent suitability for sparkling wine production. Pinot Noir brings structure and depth, while Chardonnay provides freshness and elegance. The aging process involves initial fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and storage for almost nine months. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by at least 30 months on the yeast, which contributes to the development of a particularly fine perlage and complex aroma profile.

The chalky soils and the cool climate, which give the wines lively acidity and minerality, are typical of the Alta Langa wine-growing region. The 2019 vintage is characterized by optimal weather conditions, which have led to exceptional grape quality. An interesting detail for wine lovers: This wine is produced using the Champenoise method, which makes it an outstanding example of Italian sparkling wine art.

This vibrant sparkling wine has a very attractive personality and lots of spicy beading. The Contratto 2019 Alta Langa Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs Pas Dosé opens to pear, unripe peach and preserved lemon. It maintains a bright delivery of flavors with plenty of background freshness.
