The Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2020 from Domaine La Méreuille comes from the southern Rhône Valley, near Orange, where this historic family estate has been rooted for several generations. The vineyards are planted on typical soils of clay, gravel and the characteristic rounded pebbles shaped by the Rhône River, which retain heat and help the grapes achieve optimal ripeness. The estate works sustainably, with a strong focus on origin and authentic terroir expression.
The wine is crafted as a classic Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. In the southern Rhône, this combination is especially characteristic: Grenache brings ripe red fruit and warmth, Syrah adds spice, darker fruit and structure, while Cinsault contributes softness and an elegant floral touch. The warm Mediterranean conditions of the region encourage a particularly aromatic and harmonious style.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and red forest berries, accompanied by delicate notes of pepper, garrigue herbs and a hint of licorice. On the palate, the wine is round and well-balanced, with soft tannins, juicy fruit and a pleasantly spicy Mediterranean finish.
