The Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC 2025 from Emidio Pepe is an iconic rosé from Abruzzo that beautifully demonstrates how expressive Montepulciano can be in rosé form. The vines are grown in the hills around Torano Nuovo, between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso mountains, where warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for freshness and aromatic precision. The wine is made from 100% Montepulciano, a grape variety deeply rooted in Abruzzo’s winemaking tradition, giving the Cerasuolo structure, juicy fruit and refined tension. Traditional vinification with foot treading and fermentation without prolonged skin contact preserves the estate’s distinctive and vibrant style.
In the glass, it shows a bright cherry-pink colour, typical of a classic Cerasuolo. The bouquet reveals intense aromas of raspberry, strawberry and red cherry, accompanied by delicate floral notes. On the palate it is fresh, juicy and surprisingly structured, with lively acidity, fine mineral salinity and a long, fruit-driven finish that almost recalls a light red wine.
