The Sangiovese Soldera Case Basse 2021 is one of Italy’s most iconic wines and comes from the renowned Case Basse estate in the southwestern part of Montalcino. It is made exclusively from 100% Sangiovese, using only grapes sourced from the estate’s own meticulously hand-tended vineyards. The vines are situated at around 320 metres above sea level, in one of the finest areas for this grape variety.
In Montalcino, Sangiovese reveals a particularly distinctive character: the combination of altitude, galestro and limestone-rich soils, together with significant day-to-night temperature variations, gives the wine remarkable precision, depth and elegance. In this region, the variety develops an exceptional balance of freshness, structure and longevity — qualities that Soldera interprets at the very highest level. Vinification is carried out entirely naturally, with spontaneous fermentation and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.
In the glass, it shows a deep, brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, it opens with a complex and layered bouquet of ripe cherries, wild berries, violet, Mediterranean herbs, refined spices and delicate balsamic notes. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and incredibly precise, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and impressive depth. The finish is long, elegant and marked by extraordinary finesse.
