Wine diversity around Rome

Lazio, the wine region around Rome, covers around 48,000 hectares of vineyards and produces 3-3.5 million hectoliters of wine annually. The region is particularly known for its white wines, including those from Castelli Romani and Est! Est!! Est!!! by Montefiascone. The geological diversity and the predominantly volcanic rock promote the cultivation of fresh, acidic white wines.
