Unique Nebbiolo wines from Piedmont

Travaglini is one of the most historic and defining wineries of Gattinara in northern Piedmont, a region known for elegant, long-lived Nebbiolo wines. The estate was founded in the 1920s by Clemente Travaglini and has remained in family hands ever since, today led by the fourth generation. Over decades, the winery has played a key role in establishing Gattinara as an internationally recognized appellation, with a strong focus on expressing the character of Nebbiolo grown on mineral-rich, volcanic soils.

At Travaglini, Nebbiolo is always at the center. The wines are typically structured, refined and built for aging, showing classic notes of red berries, dried flowers and spice, combined with firm yet elegant tannins. The estate is particularly known for producing Gattinara DOCG exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo, a choice that highlights purity and terroir rather than blending with other local varieties.

What truly sets Travaglini apart, however, is its unmistakable bottle. Designed and patented by Giancarlo Travaglini in 1958, the asymmetrical, curved shape is far more than a visual trademark. It was created with a functional purpose: the unique form helps capture sediment naturally during pouring, allowing the wine to be served without decanting. The dark glass also protects the wine from light, preserving its quality over time.

Today, this iconic bottle has become a symbol not only of the winery, but of Gattinara itself. Combining tradition, innovation and a deep connection to the land, Travaglini represents the essence of Alto Piemonte. Its wines stand for authenticity and longevity, offering a distinctive alternative to the more famous Nebbiolo expressions from Barolo and Barbaresco while maintaining a unique identity shaped by history, craftsmanship and unmistakable design.
