The Gattinara DOCG 2022 from Travaglini is a classic expression of Nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte and embodies the elegance of one of Italy’s most historic appellations. The vineyards are located around Gattinara at the foot of Monte Rosa on iron-rich volcanic soils that give the wine its distinctive mineral tension. The unique microclimate, with sunny days and cool nights, allows for slow and precise ripening, giving Nebbiolo here an exceptional balance of finesse, structure and freshness. Compared to the Langhe, the variety in Gattinara often shows a more linear, mineral and nobly elegant style.

The wine is first aged in stainless steel, followed by around 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks, adding depth and complexity. In the glass, it shows a bright garnet-red colour with delicate transparency. The bouquet reveals elegant aromas of violet, rose petals, red cherry and fine spice, accompanied by mineral and subtle iron notes. On the palate it is structured, precise and harmonious, with lively acidity, fine tannins and a long, elegant finish of red fruit and mineral depth.

Medium sparkling garnet red with a slightly brightening edge. On the nose, elegant nose of cherry fruit, leather, forest soil and a little cinnamon in the aftertaste. Fresh on the palate, with catchy tannin, slightly drying in the aftertaste and with herbal aromas on the finish.
