Donnafugata

The Donnafugata winery is a special name in the Sicilian wine world that stands for quality, creativity and passion. Founded in the 1980s by the Rallo family, Donnafugata has set itself the goal of highlighting the diversity and uniqueness of the Sicilian wine region. The name, which translates as “the refugee woman,” is reminiscent of a historical legend and reflects the desire for freedom and a new beginning — values that can also be found in the house's wine production.

Donnafugata combines tradition and innovation. The vineyards, which stretch from the hills of Contessa Entellina to the sunny plains of Etna and on the island of Pantelleria, offer ideal conditions for a variety of autochthonous grape varieties such as Nero d'Avola and Grillo. Through careful wine-growing methods and a sustainable approach, wines are created that reflect the character of their origin.

Well-known wines such as the fresh, fruity “Anthìlia” or the complex “Mille e una Notte” show the diversity that Donnafugata has to offer. The winery is proud to respect Sicily's traditions while breaking new ground. Their labels, designed by artists such as Stefano Vitale, capture the colors and moods of Sicily and turn the bottles into small works of art.
