Tenuta Trinoro
Tenuta di Trinoro, located in the remote Val d'Orcia region in southern Tuscany, is a winery that has made a name for itself for its unique approach and uncompromising quality. Founded and managed by Andrea Franchetti, a charismatic and unconventional winemaker, Trinoro is a prime example of visionary winegrowing.
Franchetti, who began cultivating the rugged and rocky land of Trinoro in the 1990s, focused on a radical vision right from the start: he wanted to produce wines in Tuscany that could compete with the best Bordeaux wines. He also planted untypical grape varieties for the region, such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot — a bold decision that should pay off.
The winery covers around 22 hectares of vineyards, which are located at a breathtaking altitude of up to 600 meters above sea level. The extreme conditions — rocky soils, large differences in altitude and the valley's unique microclimate — force the vines to root deeply and fight for nutrients. The result is wines of exceptional concentration and depth.
