Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2017 reveals a pale yellow color with brilliant clarity. The nose is vibrant and layered, offering aromas of grapefruit, mandarin, and white peach, lifted by lime blossom and a hint of star anise, contributing to its striking freshness. On the palate, this medium-bodied white is driven by lively acidity, balancing citrus and spice notes beautifully and leading into a long, mineral-driven finish that reflects the estate’s gravel-rich soils.

The blend consists of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and 5% Sémillon. Sauvignon Blanc brings brightness and citrus precision, while Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon add structure and complexity. The 2017 vintage is notable for its clarity and freshness, reminiscent of the excellent 2007 and 2013 vintages. Under the stewardship of the Cathiard family, the estate masterfully blends tradition, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability.

The wine earned outstanding acclaim, including 97 points from James Suckling, who praised it as “a fabulous white with sliced apple, pear, stone, flint, and a touch of cream.”
