The Pinot Noir DOC Val Venosta 2023 from Merano Winery comes from the high-altitude vineyards of the Val Venosta, located between 500 and 750 meters above sea level. The vines grow on well-drained soils composed of decomposed slate, granite, and gneiss with sandy components, providing ideal conditions for this demanding grape variety. The valley’s dry climate, abundant sunshine, and sheltered location allow the grapes to ripen slowly, giving the wine elegance and a distinctive sense of origin. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the skins for around ten days. It then undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged in used barriques and small oak casks, creating a harmonious balance between fruit and structure.
In the glass, it displays a brilliant deep ruby-red color. The bouquet reveals aromas of raspberries, wild cherries, and blackcurrants, complemented by elegant subtle nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious and complex, with a balanced structure, lively freshness, and a long, elegant finish.
