The Lagrein Gran Lareyn Riserva DOC 2022 from Loacker Estate is an expressive organic red wine from South Tyrol, showcasing the powerful yet elegant character of this indigenous grape variety. The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards around Bolzano, where warm days and cool nights ensure optimal ripening. The estate follows organic and biodynamic principles, allowing for a clear and authentic expression of terroir. Vinification includes extended skin contact, followed by prolonged ageing in wooden casks. As a Riserva, the wine undergoes a longer maturation period, resulting in greater depth, structure and ageing potential. Lagrein is one of South Tyrol’s most important native grape varieties and shows its best expression around Bolzano, with dark fruit character and a distinctive structure. In the glass, it appears deep ruby to garnet red. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of dark berries, cherry and plum, complemented by notes of cocoa and spice. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, with ripe tannins, dense structure and a long, elegant finish.
