The Lagrein Riserva DOC Fluvia 2023 from Kurtatsch Winery is a South Tyrolean red wine that expresses the Lagrein grape in a particularly focused and terroir-driven way. The wine comes from vineyards located on alluvial cone soils shaped by rivers, which is also reflected in the name Fluvia. Lagrein is one of South Tyrol’s most important indigenous grape varieties and thrives in warm sites with well-drained soils. In these conditions, it develops its typical profile of dark fruit, spicy depth and firm structure. The Riserva designation indicates extended aging and greater maturity. For Fluvia, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 12 months of aging in barriques and large wooden casks. This maturation adds depth, complexity and a more refined structure without masking the varietal character. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color. On the nose, dark berry fruit combines with subtle toasted notes and spicy nuances. On the palate, the wine is juicy and harmonious, with velvety tannins, lively freshness and a long, spicy-fruity finish – powerful yet surprisingly elegant.
