The St. Magdalener Classico DOC ANNVER 2023 from Pfannenstielhof represents a modern, refined interpretation of this traditional South Tyrolean wine style. Produced from 95% Schiava (Vernatsch) and 5% Lagrein, two varieties that harmonize perfectly on the estate’s slopes, ANNVER reflects a long-standing commitment to elevating the St. Magdalener to its highest potential. Through meticulous vineyard work and careful vinification, followed by 18 months of maturation in stainless steel and another 6 months of bottle ageing, the 2023 vintage shows the depth and elegance of a wine that structurally approaches a true Riserva. In the glass, it shines in bright ruby red. The nose reveals an enticing, finely spiced bouquet featuring cherry, violet, nutmeg and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine displays its hallmark elegance and smoothness: ripe red fruits, delicate notes of dark chocolate and well-integrated yet present tannins give the ANNVER structure and depth. The finish is soft, long and beautifully balanced – a top-level St. Magdalener that pairs equally well with alpine or Mediterranean cuisine and continues to evolve gracefully over the years.
