The Lagrein DOC 2025 from Waldgries is an authentic expression of the indigenous South Tyrolean grape variety Lagrein and the historic vineyard sites around Gries near Bolzano. Waldgries’ vineyards are located on warm, deep alluvial soils rich in porphyry, giving the wine structure, depth and its characteristic spicy profile. In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, it is intense and well defined, with aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum, complemented by delicate floral notes, cocoa and subtle mineral spice. On the palate, the Lagrein is juicy and well structured, with present yet ripe tannins and a lively acidity that adds balance and freshness. Dark fruit flavours continue on the palate, supported by gentle toasted nuances and an earthy depth typical of the Gries vineyard area. The finish is long, precise and persistent, clearly reflecting its origin and varietal character.
