The Barbaresco Riserva DOCG Cole 2021 from
Moccagatta is a characterful red wine from
Piedmont, made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the
single-vineyard Cole within the Barbaresco commune. The vineyard features calcareous marl soils (Marne di Sant’Agata) and a southeast exposure at 270–280 meters above sea level, providing ideal conditions for structured and age-worthy wines.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by extended ageing:
around 18 months in French oak barriques and at
least 9 months in bottle. This ageing approach, typical for a
Riserva, enhances depth, structure and long-term aging potential.
Nebbiolo is the most important grape variety in Piedmont and expresses a particularly elegant and refined style in Barbaresco. The combination of terroir and extended ageing results in wines that are both powerful and precise, with excellent aging capacity.
In the glass, it shows an intense garnet color. On the nose, it reveals complex and spicy aromas with notes of red fruits, violet and fine spice nuances. On the palate, it is structured and deep, with firm tannins and a long, elegant finish with a slight sweet impression.
