The Grüner Veltliner DOC Eichberg Identität 2023 from Klaus Lentsch Estate originates from the Eichberg vineyard in the southern part of the Isarco Valley, a unique transition zone between alpine climate and Mediterranean influences. This combination shapes the wine with a precise balance of freshness, spice and minerality. The vineyards around Campodazzo are among the northernmost areas of South Tyrol, yet still benefit from warmer influences. Grüner Veltliner is gaining importance in the Isarco Valley, where it develops a distinctive style. Compared to other regions, it appears cooler, more precise and strongly mineral-driven. Calcareous, well-drained soils and significant day-night temperature differences enhance freshness, aromatics and structure. Vinification is carried out gently with temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, followed by ageing on fine lees to preserve the wine’s clarity and vibrancy. In the glass, it shows a pale yellow colour with green reflections. The nose reveals citrus notes, green apple and fine spice with hints of white pepper. On the palate, it is fresh, mineral and precise, with lively acidity, clear structure and a long, elegant finish.
