The St. Magdalener Klassisch DOC 2025 from San Paolo Winery is a traditional red wine from South Tyrol that clearly reflects the typical style of this historic wine-growing area. The grapes come from the sunny hillside vineyards around St. Magdalena near Bolzano at altitudes of around 200–250 metres above sea level. The warm climate and morainic soils of the area provide excellent conditions for the local grape varieties.
The wine is made mainly from Schiava (Vernatsch) with a small percentage of Lagrein, following the traditional composition of St. Magdalener wines. Schiava is one of the most important indigenous grape varieties of South Tyrol and produces elegant, fruit-driven wines with a soft structure. The addition of Lagrein adds extra body and depth.
Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, helping preserve the fresh fruit and varietal aromas.
In the glass the wine shows a bright ruby red colour. The nose reveals typical aromas of cherry with delicate almond notes. On the palate it is fruity and rounded, with a smooth texture and pleasant freshness. The finish is harmonious and gentle, making this wine very approachable and versatile.
