The Lagrein Kretzer DOC 2025 from Erbhof Unterganzner combines the native South Tyrolean grape variety Lagrein with a fresh and elegant rosé style. The grapes are grown in the vineyards surrounding Bolzano and are cultivated with great care. Vinification takes place primarily in stainless steel tanks, preserving the variety’s vibrant fruit character and lively freshness. The result is a distinctive rosé that offers a modern yet authentic interpretation of one of South Tyrol’s traditional wine styles.
The term “Kretzer” refers to the classic rosé version of Lagrein. Its name originates from the historic “Kretze,” a woven basket once used to separate the juice from the grape skins after a short period of maceration. A Lagrein Kretzer is produced exclusively from Lagrein grapes and is regarded as one of the most traditional wine styles of South Tyrol.
In the glass, the wine displays a bright rosé color with ruby highlights. The bouquet reveals aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, complemented by delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is fresh, juicy, and elegant, featuring lively acidity, vibrant fruit, and a harmonious, lingering finish.
