The Chardonnay Riserva DOC Freienfeld 2023 from Kurtatsch Winery comes from one of the cooperative’s most renowned vineyard sites dedicated to Chardonnay. The Freienfeld vineyards are located at around 500 metres above sea level above Kurtatsch, where limestone-rich soils and marked temperature differences between warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for slow ripening. In South Tyrol’s higher-altitude vineyards, Chardonnay develops remarkable elegance, freshness and mineral precision, resulting in wines with both structure and finesse.

The Riserva designation reflects a longer ageing period, allowing the wine to gain additional depth and complexity. This extended maturation enhances balance and ageing potential while preserving the wine’s clear sense of origin and varietal identity.

In the glass, it displays a bright golden-yellow colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe yellow fruit, citrus, subtle herbal notes and delicate hints of toast. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet precise, supported by elegant freshness, a creamy texture and pronounced minerality. The finish is long and harmonious, combining fruit, spice and refined elegance.
