The Vernatsch DOC Pfeffersburger 2025 from Nals Margreid reflects the long-standing red wine tradition of Alto Adige and authentically expresses the character of this historic indigenous grape variety. The vineyards are located in sunny areas around Bolzano and Nals, where Vernatsch has thrived for centuries under ideal conditions. The combination of mild climate, alpine influences and mineral-rich soils gives the grape its characteristic lightness, freshness and delicate fruit expression. In Alto Adige, Vernatsch (Schiava) develops a particularly elegant style with soft tannins and exceptional drinkability, making it a classic partner for regional cuisine.
With Pfeffersburger, Nals Margreid interprets this traditional grape variety in an approachable yet characterful way. The winemaking style focuses on preserving freshness and varietal typicity while maintaining the wine’s light and elegant nature.
In the glass, the wine shines with a bright ruby-red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of red berries, cherry and delicate almond notes. On the palate, the Vernatsch is soft, juicy and harmonious, with a gentle structure, lively freshness and a pleasantly fruity finish.
