The Nibbio IGT 2022 comes from the renowned estate Castello della Sala, part of the historic Marchesi Antinori family. The vineyards are located in Umbria, near the Tuscan border, on calcareous-clay soils at higher elevations. The continental climate, with significant day-night temperature variation, allows for slow ripening and enhances aromatic precision and freshness.
The wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc, a variety that expresses itself with particular elegance and clarity in this area. The local terroir produces wines that are less opulent than in warmer regions, yet highly refined, fresh, and marked by a distinct minerality. Around Orvieto, Sauvignon Blanc has become well established alongside traditional grape varieties, contributing to a more modern and internationally styled profile.
In the glass, it shows a pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose reveals citrus fruits, gooseberry, and herbal notes, complemented by subtle mineral nuances. On the palate, it is fresh and precise, with lively acidity, clean fruit, and an elegant structure leading to a long, harmonious finish.
