The Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio Barolo DOCG Monprivato 2021 is regarded as one of Piedmont’s most iconic single-vineyard Barolos and has long embodied the uncompromising philosophy of one of the Langhe’s most historic family estates. The Monprivato vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, planted exclusively with Nebbiolo, is renowned for its calcareous marl soils and exceptional terroir, producing wines of remarkable finesse and longevity. Following traditional skin maceration, the wine is aged for several years in large Slavonian oak casks, allowing the distinctive character of both the vineyard and the grape variety to shine through. The 2021 vintage is widely considered outstanding, combining optimal phenolic ripeness with freshness, precision and exceptional balance. The result is a Barolo of remarkable elegance and extraordinary ageing potential.
In the glass, it displays an intense garnet colour with ruby highlights. The bouquet reveals remarkable depth, offering aromas of ripe cherries, red wild berries, rose petals and violets, complemented by refined notes of liquorice, spice and tobacco. On the palate, Monprivato is powerful yet precise, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and pronounced minerality. Its long, layered finish highlights the exceptional class and elegance of this legendary Barolo.
