The Viel Anders Orange IGT 2023 from Röck Estate is a distinctive Orange Wine from the Eisack Valley, crafted in a style that goes beyond traditional white wine production. This blend of Gewürztraminer and Sylvaner comes from approximately 20-year-old vines growing on steep southeast-facing slopes in Villanders at elevations between 550 and 680 metres above sea level. Gravelly quartz phyllite soils contribute remarkable minerality and a strong sense of place.
As an Orange Wine, this white wine is fermented on the skins, resulting in greater aromatic intensity, structure and complexity. Spontaneous fermentation, extended ageing in large oak casks and bottling without filtration highlight its natural character and authentic expression.
In the glass, it displays a bright orange hue. The bouquet combines the floral and spicy notes of Gewürztraminer with aromas of herbs, ripe stone fruit and delicate yeasty nuances. On the palate, it is dry, textured and multi-layered, featuring gentle tannins, vibrant freshness, pronounced minerality and a long, characterful finish.
