Amidst the sun-drenched slopes of St. Magdalena above Bolzano lies the historic Waldgries estate – a place where winemaking has been deeply rooted for more than 700 years. This family-run winery combines tradition with a modern philosophy of wine, focusing on indigenous grape varieties such as Vernatsch and Lagrein. Among its most renowned wines are the St. Magdalener Classico DOC “Antheos”, shaped by the Vernatsch grape, and the Lagrein Riserva DOC, a powerful expression of this traditional South Tyrolean variety.

The steep vineyards, unique microclimate, and consistent manual work in the vineyards lend the wines exceptional finesse and elegance. Waldgries stands for characterful, terroir-driven wines with true personality – each sip tells the story of South Tyrol’s history, nature, and culture. Winemaker Christian Plattner leads the estate with passion and a fine sense for quality – authentic, sustainable, and unmistakable.
