MARKUS MOLITOR

The Markus Molitor winery is located in Bernkastel-Wehlen on the Moselle and has been run by Markus Molitor in the eighth generation since 1984.

The Markus Molitor winery is located in Bernkastel-Wehlen on the Moselle and has been run by Markus Molitor in the eighth generation since 1984. With a vineyard area of around 120 hectares, it is one of the largest family-run wineries in the region. The focus is on the Riesling grape variety, which takes up around 90% of the cultivated area; Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc are also cultivated.
The vineyards are spread over 15 different locations, including renowned ones such as Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Domprobst and Bernkasteler Doctor. The grapes are cultivated using traditional methods with particular attention to selective manual harvesting and careful processing of the grapes.
In the cellar, Markus Molitor uses spontaneous fermentation and long aging times on fine yeast in order to optimally reflect the characteristics of the terroir in the wine. The wines are offered in three flavors, recognizable by the color of the capsule: white capsule for dry wines, green for fine tart and golden for fruity and sweet wines.
The winery has received numerous awards, including the highest rating of 100 points in Wine Advocate several times. In addition to his headquarters on the Moselle, Markus Molitor has been running the Serrig domain on the Saar since 2016, where he has recultivated historic vineyards and
expanded the portfolio to include other top wines.
