Lagrein IGT Laurenc 2019 from Weingut Pranzegg is an intense and highly aromatic red wine from the autochthonous Lagrein grape variety. In the glass, the wine shows a seductive purple color with an almost black core. On the nose, a complex bouquet of mouth and blackberries, red stone fruit, mocha and sweet spices unfolds. Over time, floral notes and a hint of ripe peach also develop. On the palate, Laurenc impresses with its powerful structure, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity, which make for an invigorating drinking pleasure. The mineral notes and the strong fruit aromas make this wine particularly balanced and appealing.

The Lagrein grape variety is typical of South Tyrol and is known for its dark, dense wines. The grapes for Laurenc come from the Gries district of Bolzano, a region known for its old Lagrein plants. The soil in this region consists of clay and sand of volcanic origin, rich in porphyry and quartzite slate, which contribute to the particular minerality of the wine. The wine is first aged for twelve months in used wooden barrels and then for a further ten months in large wooden barrels. Laurenc is bottled unfiltered and without fining to preserve its naturalness.
