The Pinot Grigio DOC “Porer” 2024 from Alois
Lageder is a lively and characterful white wine from the DOC Alto Adige, demonstrating how a classic international grape variety can express its terroir with intensity. This single-varietal Pinot Grigio comes from carefully selected vineyards in Magrè and Salorno, planted on calcareous, gravelly, and sandy soils at 210–740 m altitude, providing ideal conditions for freshness, aromatic intensity, and complexity.
In the glass, the Porer 2024 displays a pale straw-yellow color with subtle pink highlights. The nose opens with an intense bouquet of ripe melon and peach, complemented by delicate spicy and mineral notes, reflecting the cool, alpine-influenced climate of Alto Adige. On the palate, the wine is fresh, lively, and dry, with clear fruit, elegant acidity, and a pleasing texture that enhances both elegance and drinkability.
The vinification showcases creativity and care: part of the grapes is traditionally fermented, another part remains briefly in contact with the skins, and a third part undergoes extended maceration, giving the Pinot Grigio depth and personality. Spontaneous fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in large wooden casks, followed by around nine months aging on the fine lees, which adds further body and complexity.
