The Barolo Riserva La Foia 2017 by Nadia Curto is an outstanding expression of Nebbiolo from La Morra, one of the most renowned communes in the Barolo region. The grapes come from the La Foia parcel within the Arborina cru, where sandy marl soils and the typical elevation produce Barolos of remarkable elegance and depth. In La Morra, Nebbiolo often develops a finer, more floral, and highly precise style while retaining excellent structure and ageing potential. The old vines, with an average age of around 80 years, add further complexity and concentration to the wine.
As a Riserva, this Barolo benefits from a significantly longer ageing period, giving it added depth and expressive intensity. After around 20 days of skin maceration and spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for three years in large oak casks, followed by an additional year in bottle. This extended ageing results in finer tannins, greater harmony, and outstanding ageing potential.
