The Caroline 2023 from Pranzegg is an expressive white blend made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Manzoni Bianco. The grapes come from a small vineyard parcel located at around 350 meters above sea level overlooking Bolzano, where deep clay-sandy soils of volcanic and moraine origin provide distinctive character. The different grape varieties are harvested and vinified together, allowing a harmonious integration of their individual qualities from the very beginning of fermentation. Following spontaneous fermentation and a short period of skin contact, the wine is aged first in large oak casks, then in concrete tanks, and finally for many months in the bottle. This extended maturation gives the wine depth, structure, and remarkable balance while preserving its freshness.
In the glass, it displays an intense golden-yellow color. The bouquet combines aromas of ripe peach, melon, and candied fruit with delicate herbal and hay notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, offering juicy fruit, lively acidity, refined spice, and a long finish marked by subtle minerality.
