The Kerner DOC 2024 from
Kurtatsch Winery is a precise, alpine-style white wine sourced from southeast-facing vineyards at around
800 m altitude. Strong day–night temperature variations allow for slow ripening, enhancing aromatic intensity while preserving freshness. The calcareous soils, composed of gravel, clay, dolomite and quartz, give the wine its distinct mineral character. Fermentation takes place in
temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by
aging on fine lees to maintain clarity and expression.
Kerner, a
cross between Trollinger and Riesling, shows its full potential in Alto Adige, particularly in cooler, high-altitude sites. Under these conditions, it develops vibrant acidity and a focused, precise style, strongly shaped by the alpine terroir and long ripening period.
In the glass, the wine reveals freshness and aromatic precision. The nose shows notes of yellow peach and floral hints such as lilac. On the palate it is linear and vibrant, supported by lively acidity and fine minerality. The finish is long, juicy and well-balanced between fruit and freshness.
