The Pinot Blanc DOC Schlossberg 2024 by Baron Longo is an elegant organic wine from South Tyrol, beautifully expressing the finesse of this variety in an alpine terroir. Pinot Blanc is one of the region’s most important white grape varieties and thrives on South Tyrol’s calcareous soils. Especially around Neumarkt and the southern vineyard sites, the grape develops its characteristic balance of freshness, fine minerality and structure.
The vines, around 40 years old, grow in the single vineyard Schlossberg at approximately 300 metres above sea level on dolomitic limestone and morainic soils, a terroir that gives the wine precision and depth. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in large wooden casks, followed by twelve months ageing on fine lees, adding complexity and a delicate creaminess. Since 2024, the estate has also been Demeter-certified and works biodynamically, further highlighting the natural character of this organic wine.
In the glass, it shows a pale straw yellow colour with delicate golden reflections. The bouquet opens with citrus freshness, ripe pear and white peach, accompanied by subtle floral nuances and a fine chalky minerality. On the palate, it is precise, elegant and persistent, with fresh acidity, gentle creaminess and a long mineral-citrus finish.
