The Lagrein DOC Felix Anton 2024 by Baron Longo is a characterful South Tyrolean red wine that offers an elegant interpretation of one of the region’s most important native grape varieties. Lagrein is deeply rooted especially around Bolzano and the southern areas of South Tyrol, where it produces wines with dark fruit, distinctive spice and refined structure on calcareous soils. In this alpine terroir, the variety beautifully expresses its characteristic balance of intensity, freshness and elegance.

The grapes come from around 30-year-old southwest-facing vines on the Schlossberg at approximately 270 metres above sea level. The calcareous glacial soils provide precision and mineral tension. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, followed by ageing in tonneaux, which adds further depth and harmony. The result is a Lagrein that combines classic varietal character with a refined modern style.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red colour with violet reflections. The bouquet is dominated by dark forest berries, black cherry and refined spicy notes, accompanied by delicate hints of dark herbs. On the palate, it is juicy and elegant, with well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity and a harmonious, persistent finish. Despite its intensity, it remains remarkably balanced and approachable for a Lagrein.

Delicately shimmering straw yellow with golden yellow reflections. Subtle aromas of white peaches, apricots, linden blossoms, roasted almonds and golden brown toast. Hits the palate powerfully, shows fine creaminess, spreads pleasantly, lots of draft, supported by juicy acidity, a harmonious finish.
